He loved her so much he married her twice

Richard Burton first married Elizabeth Taylor on March 15, 1964. This movie, along with the first movie DIVORCE; his, DIVORCE; hers part 1 His Story, was filmed in 1973, months before their first divorce in June of 1974. A little more than a year later the two once again decided that they wanted each other and on 10 October 1975 this amazing couple got married once more, this time lasting less than a year, ending on 1 August 1976. You can read more than you care to about their lives together and apart other places on the internet, but I have one bit of information that you will find no other place. Director and screenwriter Rex Bromfield told me about an incident that happened on the set of a 1981 movie that Richard Burton was filming in Toronto, Canada. One day while waiting for a complicated setup Richard Burton was staring out a window with a faraway look in his eyes, obviously deep in thought. When the next scene was ready and the cast was called, he suddenly came back to the present, and turned his head back towards the half dozen or so nearby cast and staff members, including Rex, and said loudly to no one in particular, "I never understood what that woman wants." With that he turned and walked over to the set. This movie, and the one that preceded it by one day, was financed by the Welsh National Television Network, HTV Harlech, and was the final time that the two famous actors appeared together on screen. In this two part made for television story we watch Richard Burton as Martin Reynolds, a busy businessman who is in a struggling marriage with his wife, played by his real wife at the time, Elizabeth Taylor. Pop a big bowl of white kernel popcorn with plenty of warm melted butter drizzled over it and enjoy the show.
