The Boss, the Society girl, the Party girl, & the Virtuous Girl

Everybody loves Jimmy Duneen. He was as poor as could be as a youngster, but his fun-loving, brash outgoing personality seems to attract every female that comes near him, and his rise to the top was quick and fun. Most of his success comes because he helped a shy new secretary keep her job on the first day she worked, and she went on to become the personal secretary of the owner of the company. With her access to the most confidential company information Mary is able to give Jimmy insider tips on getting new business, and when the owner decides to sell the company Mary convinces the owner and the banker to make Jimmy the boss of the new company.

As our drama opens Mary is going home to the apartment she shares with the gal who runs the telephone switchboard at the office. There is a party going on inside and Mary gets roped into playing the very adult game of ‘Truth’ with a handsome millionaire. Several hot kisses later she confesses to the man that she is already in love with Jimmy, even though Jimmy has no idea, and he has never looked at her in a romantic way. No matter, Mary has the brains that put Jimmy on top of the business world, and one day he will notice her for more than her brain . . . . Or so she hopes.

One day Jimmy tells Mary that he has hired an assistant for Mary . . . . A flapper, wild-child blonde who is obviously Jimmy’s night-time play-thing. Mary is crushed, but she goes on helping Jimmy take the business to new heights during the day, while watching Daisy and Jimmy play at night.

Soon another blonde enters the picture. Jimmy works with his banker to clinch many new business deals, and that involves a lot of parties at the banker’s home. The banker’s daughter Ellen, who wants her own play-boy to accompany her on her society party circle clutches onto Jimmy, and he becomes putty in her hands. Jimmy sees the stars when he thinks of being the poor boy who rolls around town with a wealthy society girl. . . . . And Mary, the brains of the business who is saving herself for Jimmy is heart-broken when Jimmy gets engaged to the society girl.

Then Jimmy’s society fiancé insists that Mary be fired because the society girl can see that Mary Loves Jimmy. Crushed again, Mary walks away from Jimmy and the company she built by guiding Jimmy, and she decides that she has saved herself for too long . . . It is time for Mary to sow some wild oats and have some of the fun that she watched Jimmy having for so long. Virtue be hanged, Mary pulls out her see-through nightgown and heads for Atlantic City with the married millionaire, while Jimmy’s company slowly falls apart without Mary’s guiding hand. Pop a big bowl of white kernel popcorn with plenty of warm melted butter drizzled over it and enjoy the show.
