Saint Cecilia, the Satan in Skirts, and the Missing Song Bird

Frank Lloyd Wright is probably still the most famous and well-known architect that America has ever produced. His imaginative and unique ideas are still studied and enjoyed by fans of great architecture. Frank Lloyd Wright wore a red sash on his wedding night, adding a touch of glamour that one of his grandchildren would remember and admire.

Frank Lloyd Wright had seven children, including a daughter named Catherine, who would marry a salesman named Kenneth Baxter. Their daughter Anne Baxter became one of the most famous female actors during the Golden Age of movies. She won the best actress Oscar for her role in “The Razor’s Edge” and narrowly, and possibly unfairly, lost her nomination for best supporting actress in “All About Eve.”

As our adventure opens, we are in the happy home of professional artist Doug Procter, with his wife, his sister, a young daughter, and his professional model Miriam. This is a big day because Doug’s brother, who is a doctor, is bringing his beautiful fiancé to visit for a while because she needs a rest. His fiancé is Evelyn, played by Anne Baxter, and she needs a rest around good people who can help and understand her.

When Evelyn makes her entrance, she seems to be entranced by this wholesome family living by the seashore. She seems to be instantly in love with them all, even the maid and the handy man. Not only that, but the whole family takes her in as part of their family. What a wonderful, happy, feel-good family scene. How could anyone think of this beautiful young lady as a monster. How could anyone think of this lonely, innocent girl as a ‘Satan in Skirts?’ Pop a big bowl of white kernel popcorn with plenty of warm melted butter drizzled over it and enjoy the show.
