James Cagney's Kid Sister and Dumb Dan

Hey Guys! How much value would you put on a hot relationship with a sizzling blonde woman just aching for a good time? Would it be worth five dollars? Would it be worth twenty dollars? How about fifty dollars? How about three thousand dollars? . . . . How about murder?

Still with me? Then count yourself as a man like Mickey Rooney, who is Dan the cashier at an automobile sales and service company in Los Angeles. All he needs is five dollars before he leaves work so he can entertain a hot blonde lady he met at the lunch counter. All he needs is five dollars, and the fellow that owes him twenty dollars cannot pay him until tomorrow. All he needs is five dollars today, and he can easily pay it back in the morning. Maybe he can snag a twenty from the cash register at work and repay it tomorrow when his buddy gives him the twenty that he owes you. It will be simple, what could go wrong?

The blonde you want to have a good time with is Vera, played by Jeanne Cagney, the younger sister of classic movie superstar James Cagney. Jeanne Cagney never got as famous as her older brother, acting in only a few motion pictures, but in this one she is the object of Dan’s desire. She is the blonde who will have the time of her life with him, if only he can get five bucks to entertain her tonight after work.

Five dollars . . . Money that will send Mickey Rooney into a trap filled with quicksand, sucking him slowly and deliberately into a downward spiral of crime that will lead to murder. . . . All for a blonde who wants to have the time of her life with him. My papa used to tell me that only a fool would go out on the town in search of gingham when he has silk waiting for him at home. I finally understand. Pop a big bowl of white kernel popcorn with plenty of warm melted butter drizzled over it and enjoy the show.
