The Dying Heiress, the Anxious Gigolo, and the Very Perfect Murder

On October 15, 1969, actor Fred MacMurry and his wife, actress June Haver, were about to land at Sacramento, California’s Metropolitan airport. The wife of actor Art Lund and the wife of actor Robert Stack were driving to the airport in a rental car to pick them up. When the steering of the rental car suddenly froze, the car plunged violently into a concrete ravine, killing Art Lund’s wife, and seriously injuring Robert Stack’s wife, Rosemarie. Robert Stack, on location filming “The Name of the Game,” rushed home to be with Rosemarie.

Sultry and sexy high fashion model Rose Marie Bowe had some small parts in movies beginning in 1952, and in 1955 her agent, Bill Shiffrin, introduced her to his A-List client Robert Stack, one of Hollywood’s most eligible and popular bachelors. They were married in 1956, and the bachelor discovered that he enjoyed marriage and children much more than the single life.

Rose Marie Bowe changed her acting name to Rosemarie Stack, and soon her acting career took second place to her family. In this movie, filmed during their courtship, Rosemarie Stack is a nightclub dancer who is in love with a gigolo, who is after a big payday. Suave and masculine Rick wants his sexy dancing girlfriend, but he must marry and murder a wealthy widow to get the money that they need.

The ruggedly handsome gigolo will try to be one step ahead of the lovely widow and her friends, by executing the perfect murder. And we will indeed witness a perfect murder. Pop a big bowl of white kernel popcorn with plenty of warm melted butter drizzled over it and enjoy the show.
